  • Q1 2020 South Africa Development is well underway on the new Dr Pixley ka Isaka Seme Regional Hospital being built at Bridge City in the eThekwini Municipality.Upon completion in 2020 – with a current completion date set for April – the 500 bed, Level 2 regional hospital will serve over a million people in the region, mainly drawn from Inanda, Ntuzuma and KwaMashu.According to the province's health department, once the hospital is operational it will assume the regional services presently provided by Mhatma Ghandi Hospital in Phoenix which, together with Addington Hospital will revert to providing District Hospital Services. https://tinyurl.com/y4pqya78

  • Q1 2020 South Africa South African property developer and investor Atterbury is currently constructing a US$ 27m Mediclinic hospital in Stellenbosch, South Africa. The 15000sqm facility will help boost the world-class medical facilities in the Winelands community. Atterbury Western Cape Development Manager Gerrit van den Berg, confirmed the reports. He said that the current development is their first. "This is our first project for Medi clinic, and it is an exciting development for Atterbury.   • Q1 2020 Ehiopia Ethiopia has inaugurated the US $3.6m Shashemene Hospital and handed over to the Oromia regional health bureau.U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia Michael A. Raynor, Minister of Health, Dr. Amir Aman, and Vice President of Oromia National Regional State, Teyiba Hassen, jointly inaugurated the new 1800 square meter facility, which will provide a complete and coordinated care to enhance a patient-centered experience and expand access to health care for the general population including the prevention, care and treatment of HIV/AIDS services. http://tinyurl.com/y4dqmy69

  • Q1 2018 Zambia – President Lungu to support Saudi Arabia Fund's 800 bed Hospital Construction Project. President Edgar Lungu has assured the Saudi Fund Development that his government is committed to ensuring that the construction of the 800 bed capacity women and children hospital in Lusaka is effectively implemented. The President has meanwhile called on the Saudi Fund Development to help in addressing Zambia's challenges that have hindered the implementation of the project.   • Q1 2018 Zambia – Banks, ECAs close complex financing deal in Zambia. Bluebird Finance & Projects, four banks and two European export credit agencies have closed a US$165mn complex financing package for the construction of a new hospital in Zambia. The loan is being extended to Zambia's ministry of finance and covers 100% of the EPC contract, which is being undertaken by a large international construction company. Israel-based Bluebird, a financial services firm specialising in facilitating complex finance solutions for large-scale infrastructures projects, structured the package and led the process until closing.https://goo.gl/Xup3uA

  • Q1 2018 Kenya – Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) will renovate the old Renal Unit at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital: Dr. Aruasa told the KRA team that beginning next year (2018) the Hospital will be groundbreaking for the new Multi-Specialty 4000-bed Hospital. The first phase of 2000-beds will take three years to complete, thereafter the second phase will commence. The Hospital has since been allocated 200 acres for the purpose, hived from the Kenya Prisons Service land in Kiplombe.   • Q1 2018 Uganda – UPDF breaks ground for national referral hospital: The defence and veteran affairs minister, Adolf Tumwesige and the health minister, Jane Aceng, broke the ground for the construction of over sh130b hospital at the lower Mbuya barracks in Kampala Saturday. The old health facility within the barracks has been pulled down to pave way for the construction of what the army is describing “a-state-of-the-art” national referral hospital.   • Q1 2018 Togo – Indian firm Ping Pong Global to build hospital in Togo: Signing ceremony for the project’s memorandum of understanding was presided by Togolese minister of mines and energy, Marc Ably Bidamon, on behalf of his peer from the ministry of health, and Managing Director of Ping Pong Global, Siddharta Jain. “I am very content with how rapidly the government put the construction site at our disposal,” said the executive during the ceremony.
